16PF Course for Psychologists, Therapists and Counsellors (Level 1)

Picture
Normal Fee: $2,400. Funding details available at the Funding page.
Course Overview

The 16PF is a well-known clinical instrument commonly used by psychologists, therapists and counselors worldwide to help understand normal personality and, in conjunction with tests of psychopathology, to help with prognosis and therapy planning. It provides clinicians with the measurement of a wide range of behaviours such as anxiety, adjustment, emotional stability and behavioral problems. It can also be used within other areas of psychology, such as career and occupational selection.

This 3-day workshop will equip Clinicians with the foundational knowledge and skills to become proficient 16PF users in their clinical practice. Teaching, discussion and sharing will be framed within the clinical context, ie, the participants’ workplace setting.

Leading in a dynamic, interactive, and learner-centric way, Dr Thom Needham & Dr Mandy Cao will review the instrument in detail, familiarize participants with literature and research, present practical case studies in a variety of settings, and dive deep into psychometric knowledge to firmly ground the participants. They will share their rich experience on how to administer the 16PF, interpret results, provide client feedback effectively, and use assessment information for treatment planning & intervention strategies. Whether familiar with the 16PF or not, participants will learn how to maximize the benefits of the 16PF 5th edition with their clients.

At the end of the course, participants can expect the following outcomes:
  • Participants will understand the 16PF’s properties: its concepts, construction, scale meanings, normative basis, and how it can be applied appropriately and professionally
  • Participants will learn how to administer 16PF and gain valuable tips on interpretation
  • Participants will be able to use the 16PF assessment information in treatment planning and intervention strategies
  • Participants will learn the different computer-generated reports, eg., Comprehensive Personality Report and Basic Score Report
  • Participants will learn how to give effective feedback to spur clients’ development, including ‘what to say, how to say it’.

Important Note: Right to purchase the 16PF instrument lies with the PAN Group, owner of 16PF. This course does not certify participants to purchase 16PF .
