My Kid, The Creative Web Designer ! ( a Parent-Child Bonding Workshop )
Course Overview
The recent visit to Silicon Valley by our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, kickstart the call to cultivate more engineers in Singapore in order to cope with the growing demand for technologists and engineers. On 16 Feb 2016, our DPM Mr Teo Chee Hian said, ‘As we transition into an innovation economy, we need to build up capabilities in newer engineering and multi-disciplinary fields.” The Singapore Budget 2016 released in March 2016 again shows the Government’s resolve by announcing increased spending on developing engineering and computing talents.
What better time, then, to open your children’s eyes to the technological world? This course exposes them to web designing in a non-threatening and fun way. It gives parents a sense of where their children’s potential and interest lie and helps them to guide them accordingly.
Anyway, isn’t web designing the domain of technical geeks wearing thick eye glasses and speaking alien-like computer language? Not anymore. Technology has matured and it is now perfectly possible for creation of effective webpages in ‘drag-and-drop’ fashion. Creativity and freshness of ideas is now the key differentiators that make one website stands above another.
Designed for young minds keen on exploring technological platforms for practical uses, this workshop engages kids as young as 9 years old - together with their parents - to start learning how to develop a functional website.
But what is a ‘parent-child bonding workshop’? This means that a parent or guardian will accompany his/her child to the sessions. It allows parents the precious opportunity to bond and influence their young child while their new hearts are still tender and eager for love, attention and affirmation.
