about the trainer
Christine Mark-Griffin holds a Master's degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in San Francisco, California. She has been working with children, youth, mothers and families for the past decade in a variety of capacities. She is the author of the book, 'EMDR Workbook for Kids'. She has also created and provided trainings for mental health professionals, educators, school districts, non-profit and professional organizations on topics such as suicide prevention, mental health, mindfulness, trauma, self-care and building resiliency.
Christine's social work journey began as a mentor for at-risk children & youth in a mentoring program for survivors of domestic violence. This experience sparked her interest in working with underprivileged children & youth towards a career as a social worker. Over the years, Christine’s professional experience has included working with children, adolescents and adults through child welfare, school-based mental health programs and victims of crime programs. This has exposed her to working with diverse populations dealing with various issues involving child maltreatment, severe mental health and complex trauma.
As a professional with experience in the child welfare, behavioral health and public school systems, Christine has a wealth of knowledge and understanding to an array of challenges in working with children and adolescents including: severe mental health, childhood experienced trauma, sexual trauma, dual diagnosis, maternal mental health, learning disabilities, substance abuse, substance exposure, juvenile delinquency, immigration, incarceration, commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), domestic violence, gang violence, grief and loss, attachment problems, posttraumatic stress and much more.
Christine is a certified EMDR Therapist and EMDR Consultant-in-Training (CIT) who specializes in working with women and children. Christine uses a strength based approach and works closely with clients to create an individualized plan to begin sparking a way towards wellness in a motivating and meaningful way. She combines several therapeutic evidenced based techniques and approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy, Trauma Concious Yoga Method (TCYM), Transcending Sexual Trauma Through Yoga, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy and TraumaPlay to help support children, adolescents, adults and families towards their overall wellness goals.
How can children who suffer from traumatic experiences go from surviving to thriving? This training series offers an in-depth look at effective and creative techniques to foster resilience in school aged children and youth who have experienced adversity and trauma. This course is for professionals seeking effective ways to address dysfunctional behaviors as a result of children’s exposure to trauma. In this training, participants will explore research and evidence around how to foster resilience in children and youth. Participants will learn best practices and approaches to help children learn, grow and thrive.
This course will be provided in 2 sessions. The first session will focus on defining different types of childhood trauma, trauma responses and trauma informed approaches. The second session will focus on interventions and techniques to help children strengthen and build resilience.
